In today's globalized world, many individuals leave their home countries to study, work, or travel. Many yearn for the flavors of homemade hometown food, but locating authentic homemade cuisine can be a challenge. This is where Homesick steps in, providing a solution to those cravings.

Homesick connects guests with hosts, allowing them to savor homemade meals, experience authentic cuisine from different cultures, and connect with others over the shared love of food, fostering a sense of community across cultures.

Recognizing the competitors

During my research on competitors, I conducted a thorough comparison of features between food experience platforms and restaurant reservation apps. 

Setting Personas

Based on my synthesis of interviews, I developed two personas: Soyul Park and Jack Rawaland. With both living away from their hometowns, I was able to gain a deeper understanding of the needs and wants.

I organized navigation of the app to provide clear guidance to the users. The guests and host partly share the same userflow and have their own path later in the process.

Informing concept

Homesick informs its concept and expectations from hosts and guests. Users choose to be a host or a guest to fill in personal information.

Profile

- Guests create profiles where they record their hometown, cuisine preferences, and dietary restrictions.


- Hosts showcase their culinary expertise, their background, such as their hometown and cultural heritage, along with details about their specialty dishes.

After enjoying the meal, guests have the opportunity to access and connect with the profiles of fellow attendees.

To further develop the app, I could develop as to connect after a dining event. In the next step, I believe that collaborating with home chef or culinary experts to curate a diverse selection of cultural cuisines could be a fun project.
